The Special Interest Groups know that there's no better way to get attention to their causes than protesting films for offensive content.

True. And I also think this particular film company is using the controversy to attract attention (as in the case of "Captivity").
Maybe the whole subject matter just hit a really big nerve as far as I'm concerned.
