Bit of randomness
Feb. 7th, 2008 08:01 pmThis and that while listening to the Hawks game:
I'm not up to driving 50+ miles tomorrow because one of the runners is dropping the ball. And no, there's really nobody else.
They made a Scott Stevens reference earlier in the game. I miss him.
Pitchers and catchers report soon. That'll be nice.
Jonathan Toews should be back next week. That makes me happy. I wish he had a brother that played goal.
I would love John Edwards to be the person who prevents both Hillary and Obama from getting enough votes for a nomination (I'm sure it'll still be a simple majority, but there's something very nice about the incompleteness of it.)
There might be a "real" Oscars ceremony after all. I hope so. "No Country for Old Men" will probably win though.
Does anyone feel like examining the motivations for the actions at the end of "There Will Be Blood"? Has anybody else actually seen this movie?
They're saying nice things about the Hawks goaltender. I feel a jinx coming on.
I'm starting to think my boss doesn't like being in the office. He spent Tuesday morning beautifying the area around the building - clearing trash from the street, washing the sidewalks, cleaning the neighbors' gutters. It's getting a little worrisome to be honest.
Why the heck had I forgotten that THE COACH (Mike Keenan) was in Calgary? That's nice. I'll be seeing him when they come into town next week.
Calgary fans intimidate me. Ever since they won the Cup.
Two of the sweetest words in the English language (when put together), at least as far as I'm concerned, "Hawks win!"
Anybody want to look at my prompt table for
100_women and give me suggestions for female characters in the following fandoms "Big Love", "Firefly", "OZ", "The Sopranos", and for Dani in "Life"? I've got a ways to go and could use the inspiration.

But I seriously cannot wait!
I haven't seen "There Will Be Blood' yet,so I can't answer your question. My Aunt said it was very violent, which immediately made my Dad and I want to see it. I think I've told you about how my viewing of violent or action movies increases with my stress level. Guess where that level is now?
I have a few prompts for you: The Sopranos: Dangerous-Carmela,death-Janice,hit-Adriana,dirty-Dr.Melfi,truth-Svetlana,
Oz:comfort-Gloria,stength-Diane,weakness-Sister Pete.
Firefly: eyes-Zoe,ribbon-River.
If I can think of any others I'll let you know.
What you said about your boss and his behavior really does sound strange!

Date: 2008-02-08 11:12 am (UTC)Sounds like my dad. Actually he starts the day after the World Series. I start the day the hockey season heads south. A few weeks ago I was on mlb.com actually listening to a Cards game from August that I went to - Ankiel's first game back - it was nice.
"There Will Be Blood" has some incidents of violence, but if your stress level is supremely high, I'd recommend "No Country for Old Men" which has a lot of gun action in it, or "Sweeney Todd" which is a beautiful bloody mess (with Johnny Depp!) and some lovely very dark edged music.
I hope you are less stressed soon. I'm wide awake at 3AM, does that give you some indication of mine?
I like the prompts, especially the one for "The Sopranos" - hit - Adriana, because there are three or four ways that I can go with that.

Date: 2008-02-09 03:57 am (UTC)On Dec.1st we start looking toward March 1st,and since it's 90 days it seems like a good place to focus.
We watch the Yankees classics during the offseason , so at least we do get to see baseball in some way!
If I can get to the movies I'd like to see "No Country for Old Men" and "Sweeney Todd" (I love Johnny Depp, too). I've wanted to see that since it was on Broadway but never got to it.
Thanks, I hope the stress levels off soon. I feel like I'm spinning alot of the time, when I don't feel like I'm crashing. I'm sorry you're feeling stressed, and I hope things are better for you soon, too.
I'm glad you liked the prompts. Yes,Adriana and hit can have a few interpretations-it even could apply to when she was trying to be a record producer.(That whole story really annoyed me. She really did know better than the guy Chris said was so smart about the record industry. Of course Chris was jealous and could be a major ass with her most of the time,so it really shouldn't have surprised me.Sorry, I'm digressing).

Date: 2008-02-09 05:39 am (UTC)I think I blocked that part because that's the one interpretation that I didn't immediately think of (I managed four though). And what's weird is that I think the episode is actually entitled something like "A hit is a hit is a hit." I've scrawled out a bit of something, but right now I'm too exhausted to transpose it into the computer, but I'll probably post it tomorrow.
And I haven't forgotten about my lovely boys. Dino is standing with his fists cocked, tapping his foot impatiently at me, but that's gonna have to wait as well.

Date: 2008-02-09 05:57 am (UTC)Yes,please don't forget about the boys. Even though I fear for Ryan now that he has Dino mad at him!
