I downloaded the episode and I'm watching it ASAP. Pete and Kenny hum. I'm all for shipping Pete with anyone. He's such a smarmy little bastard he's hard to resist.
I've actually had a really hard time figuring out which characters to write - it's one of those shows where the writers do such a wonderful job that going beyond seems almost sacreligious. And yet... I love Don & Peggy together (but not 'shippy) and I have a few wacky ideas with Pete (including Kenny's mad crush on him). If you want to toss a prompt my way, I'll give it a go.
Because I can't afford cable :( I saw some of the first season episodes and they were awesome.
I've found that there's no fandom for most of the HBO shows I've enjoyed on DVD (except for OZ). Maybe people are watching, but just not writing fic. Maybe they're intimidated by the quality of the source material.

I can see that definitely with "The Sopranos", but part of that is also because I think that there's a lot of fandom that's very tuned into slash fiction and while that show is full of men, it's nobody that you'd necessarily want to slash.
The thing about "Mad Men", especially the first season was that it was so well-written, but there was nothing there that really sparked my imagination and jumped up and down and screamed "YOU MUST WRITE ME". When I saw Season Two's "The New Girl" on DVD, I knew I had to write about that flashback scene. And the first episode of season three has just been full of writing fodder.

Things like that really illustrate how far we've come in the past 46 years.
