I think it's a good time to mention this, and it may be the only time I'm so optimistic about my Blackhawks, but listen up - the Hawks are 3-0 so far in pre-season play (they even won in OT on Thursday). Does it mean anything? Absolutely not, but it does make me feel good about their chances going into the season. Hope springs eternal, or at least until the buzzer sounds at the end of the second regular season game.

I knew the 5 for 6 challenge was out there, but I didn't look at the prompts for it until today. I am in Ozfic heaven. It's so nice (and don't worry Keller fans, I'm done with him for quite some time - and really only then if the situation could never be done with anybody else). But there are some awesomely fun prompts - I can see though where the difficulty is gonna hit, because 1,2,&3 could come quickly enough, but those last couple. Ooo. So I'm gonna sign up.

Something weird going on. Just saw a preview for the week's "Justice". It was supposed to be an episode titled "Crucifixion", but instead there's something with some mother and child at an amusement park. Maybe they got complaints and decided to pull it.

This begs the question, would Oz have been able to do anything if it was on network TV? Would we care? Let's see. There would be no Aryans (or the Aryans would be present and silent), everyone would be put in the cage and not the hole, B/K would exist in the minds of fans looking for a slash pairing - but would only be able to exchange long intense gazes on television, Ryan & Gloria would have had sex and been the relationship most talked about in chatrooms across the nation, Timmy Kirk would not have existed past the third season, the inmates would have to sell things other than drugs - commercially sponsored contraband of the week, a creative substitute for the more colorful language on the show would have to be invented, i.e. "Forget you, you freak" (it really loses the lyricism there, doesn't it), the prison would be 90 percent Caucasian, including the warden, and there would be more women CO's and very few homosexuals (I think the ratio is 2 per show max on network tv). It would be a very different show.

Had a nice time tonight. Spent the evening with some friends that I haven't seen in a while.  Way back a couple months ago when I started posting, I was talking about one of my gay friends that I recommended "Oz" to, and I was kicking myself because I didn't have him start at Season 4 (disk 2 - he's on the Netflix 1 disk at a time program, or he was, and that's where "A Word to the Wise" is located on rental copies).  But tonight he confessed that he was watching them 2-3 episodes at a time like a good little Oz addict.  He's just starting Season 4a.  Wow.  Now all I need to do is part with my Season 1 DVDs long enough to hook my sister - I see her in less than 2 weeks so I'll hand them over then.  And get them back at Thanksgiving, when I arrive with Season 2 (if she's hooked, we can watch them all in an evening), Season 3 will be for Christmas (and I won't be coming back to LA without it) and she's on her own with 4-6.  I don't think I've steered her wrong yet.  I got her into QaF which she loved.  The only thing is the violence.  She's not big into that.  Her husband isn't squeamish though so maybe he'll be the one that gets hooked.  He and I bonded over "Reservoir Dogs" the first time I met him - he got my blessing then and there.

So I've spent the better part of the last 3 hours writing and finished a story in that time.  I just wish I had a community of people who write prompts that will appeal to teeny tiny niche markets that I would be able to generate a hundred or so pages on.    At least this is getting me writing, right?
