Prep Day

My age 50 rite-of-passage event is tomorrow morning so I'm home today prepping. I thought I'd do a fun experiment and weigh myself beforehand, which I did.

And then I weighed myself at the mid-point and I've gained a pound. WTF?

Also, I'm not going to be drinking Gatorade any time soon after that.

Off to drink another glass of vile liquid. Bottoms up!

Depending on what you might have eaten or even the time of day, your body might be holding onto some water. And I do believe that Gatorade is high in sodium, so it very well could be the culprit.

Thanks. I had a feeling that it's just water weight - between the Gatorade and the fact that I've been on a liquid diet all day, yeah I'm probably retaining some (and I usually don't drink 32 ounces of anything within a two hour period.)

I'll check again tomorrow morning before we head out.

It's something that I've actually been looking forward to and it got derailed for a while because of me delaying, then switching jobs (and losing insurance coverage for 3 months), and then Covid.

It went well, other than drinking that awful stuff. :)

Oh, you have my sympathy, hang in there! The prep is the worst part. The actual procedure should be easy peasy, since you should be zonked out on the good shit. And the return to eating afterwards is lovely. Hope everything turns out okay!

I have not thought to weigh myself before and after. May do that next time, heh.

(I am not 50 yet, but my chronic illness is digestive system related and I have to go through this once a year for the foreseeable future. And I can't drink Gatorade or the flavoring stuff, so I have to chug the vile stuff straight. Really, I feel your pain.)

Every year? That sounds awful. I'm not sure if chugging the stuff straight would have been better (probably impossible since it came in powder form) but they had me on a fairly leisurely every 30 minutes drink 8 ounces track. It might be better to drink it faster, but maybe they spread it out to not put so much stress on the system.

Lime jello, which they said was fine, makes it more of a colorful adventure though.

Yeah, by straight I meant just with water, which means I have to taste it in all its glory. (It is not pleasant. You might be tired of Gatorade for awhile, but trust me you don't want that stuff without it.) I think mine is generally paced even more leisurely.

Ha! I can't have lime jello either, so I did not know that. (I go with peach, it does nothing.)

Blech! I don't know what the rite of passage entails but I'm gathering it's some sort of medical procedure for which I say, good luck, and yuck! sorry you have to drink anything vile!

Colonoscopy. And the drinking is the worst part. The actual procedure wasn't bad at all.

It was my first IV though, so that was strange. I've got the beginning of a nasty bruise on my hand now. I'll just say "you should see the other guy" if asked.
