There’s a mark on Claire’s wrist that’s exposed when she picks up the coffee pot. Tim’s eyes are transfixed to the spot. “Don’t worry, McManus,” she says. “There’ll be enough for you to have some.”
“Is that from one of the prisoners?” Tim asks, gesturing toward her wrist, dotted by a series of faint bruises caused by bite-marks.
“No.” She pours herself a cup of coffee and then returns the pot to its place. “Have a good day.”
Tim leaves the break room, the pot of coffee forgotten, and heads back to his office. Passing Sean on the stairs, Tim says in a tone that brooks no argument, “My office. Now.”
“What’s up?” Sean asks as he walks into the office.
“Close the door,” Tim says.
Sean complies.
“I saw Claire.”
“Well, she works here. That’s bound to happen.”
“Don’t play innocent. You marked her.”
“I like her. We went out, had a good time.”
“Were you trying to make me jealous?”
“It’s not always about you. Wait… are you?”
“I’m surprised more than anything. I didn’t expect you to…”
“Didn’t expect me to what? Move on? I’m not going to wait forever, Tim.”
“Just… I don’t know… be careful.”
“It’ll be fine. We’ll be fine. You’ll be fine too. This is what you wanted, right?”
Tim shrugs. “I don’t know.”
“Hey.” Sean takes Tim’s hand and unclasps the wristwatch that Tim wears. He rubs his thumb over the faint scars on Tim’s wrist that mark the spot where Sean’s teeth broke through the skin. “As long as you have this, there’s a part of you that’ll always belong to me.”

Blame this on the fact that I watched "King Arthur-Legend of the Sword" last night and really wanted a Craig Kelly cameo.

OZ - The Greatest Challenge - Keller
Mar. 16th, 2019 04:24 pmI recently held a challenge over at
hardtime100 for International Women's Day. People who submitted drabbles could then prompt me.
mazephoenix gave me the prompt "mindfuck" and I had something in mind for it, but since it wasn't exactly what the original prompt called for, I didn't post it there (I wrote another response for that community). So, this was my first idea for that prompt:

Snowflake Challenge - Day 12 - Challenge
Jan. 13th, 2019 04:26 pm
Day 12
In your own space, create your own challenge.
Since I want to be held a little accountable, I'm posting here instead of to my DW journal. I'm challenging myself (and anyone else who has a "drawer novel") to take the time to work on a second draft. No rushing around to squeeze in 50K into a month, just a leisurely hour or two every so often to make that first draft better and to possibly get a wee bit closer to publishing.

Day 11
In your own space, talk about your creative process(es) — anything from the initial inspiration to how you feel after something’s done. Do you struggle with motivation or is it a smooth process? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to pull out when a fanwork isn’t cooperating? What is your level of planning to pantsing/winging it?

And now for something completely different
Jan. 9th, 2019 10:12 pmFor several years, I have wanted to do a Queer as Folk crossover between the UK & US series. I had a scenario in mind, but never got it down. This is not it. However, I did take the Weekend Challenge prompt (which is the first sentence in the fic) from
1_million_words and got Stuart, Vince, Nathan, Michael, and Brian together for a little ficlet.

Snowflake Challenge - Day 8 - Self-Pimping
Jan. 8th, 2019 08:47 pmDay 8
In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created.
There are a lot of fics that I've written that I still like which is a good thing. Here are three, not necessarily The Best, but fics that I could read more than once.
Another Time, Another Life - L.A. Confidential (Bud White/Ed Exley) - I've always thought that L.A. Confidential held a lot of slashy subtext between Ed & Bud. The last scene, with what's said and isn't said, is a perfect example of that. In this fic, I turn the subtext into text and it's a nice little look at what could have been between them.
Five Times Giles & Anya Could Have Met - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Rupert Giles/Anyanka (Anya Jenkins) - I like the structure of the five times fics and being able to explore Rupert's backstory and mix canon with AU was fun. Anya meets Rupert several times - first when he is nearly ten years old, the second when he's a demon summoner, then touching on canon at the high school, once during an AU season six, and once post-series. Ethan is there for some of the fun as well. It's funny and sweet with a touch of romance.
The White Rabbit of Unit B - OZ (James Robson & Vern Schillinger) - De-aging is one of my favorite tropes to read and when I got a prompt about the effects of the anti-aging drugs gone wrong, I had to jump at it. And who better to de-age than a tough as nails Neo-Nazi. There are several OZ pieces that I could have chosen, but I like the humor in this one. For those who haven't read it yet, please note that given the characters involved, it is by no means politically correct.

1_million_words for the prompt: “Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space.”
